Get on the Bus to end torture!
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said he had “never known such utter darkness” as when he was held in solitary confinement. Nelson Mandela called it “the most forbidding part of prison life.” And yet, this barbaric punishment remains a cornerstone of America’s carceral system.
Now, the Journey to Justice bus tour is rolling into Buffalo to confront this modern-day torture, and it’s making a vital stop at the Elim Christian Fellowship Church. This is your chance to understand one of the most urgent human rights issues of our time. Hear directly from oral historians—people who have survived the torture of solitary confinement and now share their experiences to fuel the movement for change. Their stories of resilience will be at the heart of this powerful event.
Then, step aboard the interactive museum bus. Through powerful audio installations, compelling video accounts, and immersive virtual reality, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the human cost of isolation and learn why we must end this practice in New York and across the nation.
