We are proud to announce a key stop at Undercover Books in Chicago on this national tour. On October 9th from 10:30am – 1:30pm the Journey to Justice bus we be parked in the parking lot attached to the United Evangelistic Consulting Association’s Culture Canvas Cafe and Art Gallery at 1242 W. 103rd Street, Chicago, IL. We invite you to be part of this crucial gathering.
The Journey to Justice bus is a mobile hub for change, featuring a life-sized solitary cell model, VR experiences, a photo exhibit of survivors, and creative spaces for sharing stories. It’s a place to build the relationships and power necessary to dismantle this brutal system.
A centerpiece of the Journey to Justice tour is “Ending Isolation: The Case Against Solitary Confinement” by currently incarcerated author Christopher W. Blackwell, Prof. Deborah Zalesne, Dr. Terry Kupers, and Kwaneta Harris. The tour’s message is about the urgent need to end solitary confinement.
As the struggle for justice intensifies, our response must be more creative, more resilient, and more deeply human than ever before. We must meet this moment not with despair, but with bold action. This tour builds on a long history of transformation. From Rosa Parks to the Freedom Riders, buses have been a central part of making change in America. Now, this bus continues that legacy. From September 4th to October 31st, the Journey to Justice tour will travel from California to Washington, D.C., serving as a moving center for “artivism”—using art and creativity to bring people together, ignite conversation, and build a powerful, unified call for action. The Journey to Justice tour is brought to you by Restore Justice, Mud Theatre Project, Undercover Books, United Evangelistic Consulting Association’s Culture Canvas Cafe and Art Gallery, and the Unlock The Box Campaign.
